Our Process
As we perform each grooming task, we simultaneously focus on teaching your dog to relax, stay calm, sit still, and enjoy the process. They very quickly learn to love the pampering attention. We strive to provide a relaxing bath, even while we are taking care of some necessary but unpleasant tasks such as: cleaning out ear infections, expressing anal glands, and checking for any abnormalities (hot spots, lumps, or bumps).
Bathing a dog is an art form. We look at your dog from nose to tail to determine their specific needs and how best to clean him or her, considering their size, temperament, and disposition.
We begin by washing their hair. At Pet-Tastic we use the Pro Bather bathing system, which provides the perfect blend of water, shampoo, and conditioner for your dog to be thoroughly and efficiently washed. Your pet will be gently washed, rinsed, and conditioned thoroughly. While bathing your dog we always express the anal glands to ensure that they never become impacted. We clean their ears and check for wax build up or debris in the ear canal. We will gently flush the ear canal with a saline solution if necessary to help prevent infection.
There are NO hot air dryers at our shop At Pet-Tastic we use forced air dryers which are the most efficient for removing water from the outer and inner coat. The high velocity air flow these dryers produce help in penetrating their thick coats and removing water efficiently. Your dog will never be left unattended and extra care will be given around your pets sensitive areas.
After drying, we will carefully brush your dog to remove all mats and tangles and prepare them for grooming. If mats cannot be removed by brushing then we may need to either shave or cut them out.
Next, we gently trim and file your dog’s nails. Proper nail care is not only important to your dog’s health (as split nails can lead to infections), but also necessary to ensure other animals or humans are not accidentally harmed while playing with your pet. This can also minimize accidental damage to your floors and furniture. Unless specified otherwise, we will cut your dog’s nails down as far as safely possible, then we will Dremel all rough edges, to ensure a smooth finish. This will provide ultimate comfort for your dog and peace of mind for you.
Now on to the actual grooming process! At Pet-Tastic we are trained to be proficient in standard, “show,” and pet-friendly cuts. We will help you select and maintain the best style for your dog according to breed, lifestyle, and personal preferences.
Finally, we brush your dog’s teeth. This isn’t just about fresh breath. Just like with humans, brushing is a vital part of a dog’s oral care and health care. Periodontal disease (gum disease) is a common and serious problem in dogs, which can lead to more serious medical issues. To ensure the teeth receive a proper cleaning, we use a special canine toothbrush, specially formulated doggie toothpaste, and a fair amount of skill and strategy. Your dog will be nice and relaxed with us, at this point, and it will be a pleasant experience for us all.
As needed, we can also treat sensitive skin, allergies, geriatric dogs, arthritis, skin that needs healing, and/or administer flea treatments. We have Pet-tastic solutions to help reduce tangling, reduce shedding, soften/strengthen coats, and add shine.
We want your dog to feel good, be easily maintained and look Pet-Tastic!

Our Process
Does your cat shed? Have hair balls? Regurgitate food? Have dry skin? Matted hair? Cats groom themselves, right? Wrong. They lick themselves. In fact they can spend up to half their awake hours doing this too. Grooming and licking are two entirely different things.
When a cat licks themselves, they are using their specialized tongue to spread saliva and germs around their bodies, ingesting hair and creating hairballs in their throat. When a cat is groomed, products and tools are used to clean, neaten, clip, trim, brush and pamper.
All cats greatly benefit from regular grooming. Loose fur and dead skin cells are removed, as well as dirt, debris, and hidden external parasites, while releasing and distributing natural skin oils.
Cats claws need to be cleaned, as well as clipped. Cats typically spend a great deal of time licking or chewing on their paws, which removes the sheaths that cover their claws. (This is why you may notice scratching on your couch.) Regular cleaning and trimming of your cats claws will help him stay well-groomed and away from your furniture.
As with dogs, eyes and ears are especially important to check, keep trimmed and free of irritants and free from the possibility of infection. Your cat will tell you when his ears are bothering him by shaking of the head or scratching the ears. With regular grooming we can help monitor their sensitive areas for wax and debris.
Do you have an aging cat with pain or arthritis that is finding it difficult to bathe themselves? Many elderly cats simply lack the energy and flexibility to keep up with their regular routine. Matting can develop along their spine, groin and armpit areas and can become quite painful. Without help, their lack of ability can cause severe health problems for them. Your cat does not need to be dirty, smelly or matted. Your cat may need some help keeping their fur coats, nails and skin top condition.
The solution is easy!
Bring your feline family member to Pet-Tastic for a bath, blow dry, ear check, nail trim and yes even a tooth brushing on a regular basis. We are professional and trained in the gentle handling techniques for cats. Cats are naturally narcissistic.
If your cat is being professionally groomed every six weeks or less, they will not only look fantastic…but feel Pet-Tastic too!
